Ed,

It's about time the President came out with a hard-hitting attack on his opposition. I think he finally realized that everybody in Washington isn't nice, everybody there doesn't want the common man or him to succeed; everybody there won't fight a little, consider the strength of someone else's arguments, then get in line and cooperate.

It seems that for the longest time, the White House had and still has a serious communications problem. They need someone with an intimate knowledge that for many reasons the American people won't or can't process too much political/government information at once, using two terms that mean the same thing confuses them, the main message must be stated up front and changing the message turns them off. Sorry about the way this sounds, but it's true.

For instance, the White House recently put out an e-mail message on free preventative health care services coming in September. The "free" part didn't show up until the 7th paragraph in the message; most people will stop reading at paragraph No. 3. There are keywords the American people look or listen for and one of them is "free".

Has anyone from the White House told the American people that the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and the Stimulus Bill are one and the same? This simple little message will cut off all of the republican'ts statements that "the stimulus bill didn't create one job!" Ribbon cutting and ground-breakings on new projects usually mean jobs have been created and more will be coming. The President goes out all the time on projects started under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act while the republican'ts say "the stimulus bill didn't create one job!" The White House needs to stop using the term - American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and start using the term " stimulus bill". It's shorter, simpler and more easily understood by the American public.

The President needs to be more forceful, simpler and become more engaged with the American people. He has great ideas, but needs better message shaping skills from his staff to let the public know the good he's trying to do.
